The State Bank of Pakistan has removed the levy imposed on knock-down CKD kits by the current government on assembly kits for vehicles with engines of 1000 cc or less by eliminating the levy imposed on local car manufacturers. A revised notice has been issued by the Revenue Division in which the customs duty has been reduced from 30% to 15% and also the customs duty on tires and tubes has been reduced from 25% to 16%. percent, and adding to this relief, the government has reduced the customs duty on older models of 1000 cc vehicles from 32.5 percent to 30 percent.
The notification further stated that the current relief of 15% is for a period of up to 3 years and is applicable to new models vehicles certified by the Engineering Development Board.
